What is Stella Ascend?
Stella Ascend is a collaborative budgeting application designed for couples and small families. It helps you track expenses, set budget limits, and achieve financial goals together in real-time.
Is my financial data secure?
Yes, security is our top priority. We use industry-standard encryption to protect your data. We never sell your personal or financial information to third parties. Your data is only shared with members of the households you choose to join or create.
Is there a mobile app?
Stella Ascend is a Progressive Web App (PWA). While we don't have a separate app store download yet, you can "Add to Home Screen" on your iPhone or Android device for an app-like experience.
Is there a demo?
Yes! Simply create a free account and you'll have the option to create a demo household during onboarding. This demo household can be deleted after you've finished testing the platform.
How can I report a bug or request a feature?
We appreciate your feedback! You can submit bug reports and feature requests by opening a support ticket from your account dashboard. Our team will review your submission and keep you updated on its progress.
Using the Platform
How do I create a household?
After registering, you can create a new household from your dashboard. Simply give it a name, and you're ready to start tracking!
How do I invite family members?
Once you've created a household, go to "Household Settings" and look for the "Invite Code". You can share this code with your partner or family members so they can join your household.
What are "Settlement Shares"?
Settlement shares allow you to define how expenses are split between household members (e.g., 50/50 or proportional to income). This helps track who owes what if you maintain separate bank accounts while sharing expenses.
Subscriptions & Billing
What plans do you offer?
We offer 2 plans to suit different needs:
- Free: 1 Household, 2 Members, 50 Transactions/month.
- Pro: 1 Household, 5 Members, 500 Transactions/month.
Does every family member need a subscription?
No. Only the household owner needs a subscription to access extra features. All other family members can use a free account to connect to the household and benefit from the subscription features available to that household.
Is the Free plan really free forever?
Yes! The Free plan has no time limit and doesn't require a credit card. It's perfect for individuals and couples who want to start their collaborative budgeting journey without any upfront costs.
What is "12-Month Rolling Analysis"?
Available on our advanced plans, this feature provides a deep dive into your spending trends over the last year, helping you identify long-term patterns and seasonal variations in your budget.
How are payments handled?
We use Moneris, a leading payment processor, to securely handle all subscription billing. Your payment information is encrypted and never stored on our servers.
Can I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your subscription at any time from the "Subscription" page in your account settings. You will continue to have access to your plan features until the end of your current billing period.
Privacy & Personal Data
Can I keep my own personal budget separate?
Yes! You can have personal categories and transactions that are not shared with other household members. This allows you to manage your own spending while still contributing to your household's overall financial picture.
Can I recover deleted data?
Most data on Stella Ascend, including transactions and categories, supports "Soft Deletes". This means if you accidentally delete something, it can often be recovered by our support team or via the admin interface. Please note that soft-deleted items are kept for a limited amount of time before being permanently hard-deleted.

How do Spending Projections work?
Based on your historical spending patterns, we use simple predictive modeling to project your future expenses. This helps you anticipate upcoming costs and adjust your budget before they hit your bank account.
